Effective Friday, November 20, Salt Creek Park District will institute several modifications and changes to park and recreation programs, events and activities in accordance with State of Illinois’ Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigation plan.  Below are updates on program offerings, facilities and rentals.

  • Group Fitness Classes will be changed to Virtual classes.
  • Some special events have been cancelled or changed to virtual events.
  • Outdoor group activities limited to 10 persons or less, participants/guests must wear face coverings at all times.

Board of Commissioner Seat Opening (6 year term) Resident candidates considering running may pick up an election packet from Rose Park Office at 530 South Williams Ave. Election date is April 6th, 2021.  Filing of nomination papers begins December 14th, 2020 at 8:30am.  The last day to file nomination papers is December 21st, 2020 at 5:00pm.

Philosophy

Salt Creek Park District’s Dance Program’s philosophy is to provide dance programsfor all ages which feature sound technique, and structured classes in a warm, nurturing atmosphere. Personal attention is given to each participant to foster a love of dance in a fun and exciting environment.

BALLET/TAP COMBO

Ballet & tap techniques are taught through fun songs and excercises.  Students also work on performing skills, body awareness and coordination.  This class is subject to change to a virtual class depending upon CDC guidelines and stages.

BALLET/LYRICAL COMBO

Students will build upon ballet and lyrical techniques with more advanced movement patterns while incorporating performance techniques.  Positions, flexibility and performance skills will be taught.  This class is subject to change to a virtual class depending upon CDC guidelines and stages.

Tap

This class focuses on rhythm and coordination through the art of tap.  Students will begin with basic tap exercises and learn to connect them into combinations.  This class is for both beginners and those with previous dance experience.  This class is subject to change to a virtual class depending upon CDC guidelines and stages.

JAZZ/HIP-HOP COMBO

Students will blend the sharp and fluid movements of jazz with age-appropriate hip-hop moves while focusing on rhythm and self expression.  This class is for both beginners and those with previous dance experience.   This class is subject to change to virtual based upon CDC guidelines and current stage.

JAZZ/TUMBLING COMBO

This high-energy class introduces students to the basic elements of dance and teaches basic tumbling skills.  Students will learn how to combine movement and upbeat music while encouraging creativity.  This class is subject to change to a virtual class due to current CDC guideline and stage. .

LEAPS, TURNS & TECHNIQUE

Skills used in a variety of dance styles will be taught and built upon with focus on strengthening and proper technique.  This class is for all experience levels, and is great for preparing students for school dance teams and high school orchesis.  This class is subject to change to virtual due to current CDC guidelines and stages.

ADULT LINE DANCE

Learn the best line dances from professional line dance and jitterbug champion- Shelley Gross. She will teach basic steps to popular line dances. Beginner students are welcome and no partner is required! All dances can be perfect for any social function party as well as nightclubs or country western venues.
